Though Halloween is celebrated with lots of zeal and fun, yet you should take some precautionary measures in order to celebrate the occasion on a happy note. In fact, Halloween safety plays a major role in the happiness of the occasion. Every year, it is observed that over enthusiasm and lack of knowledge & precautions lead to some unwanted and unfortunate incidents which even take a few lives during Halloween. A little knowledge on Halloween safety can easily avert those accidents and make your festival a truly happy and enjoyable one.

It is always better to refer to the Halloween safety guide before you go to celebrate the occasion of Halloween. Everyone needs to follow some basic safety guidelines for Halloween. Safety on Halloween is applicable for all – be it the children or their parents and other adults. So, follow the Halloween safety guidelines and celebrate your Halloween on a happy note.

Halloween Safety Guidelines for Children

  1. Always go to well-lit houses. Try to remain on the porches.
  2. Travel in small groups. Request an adult to accompany you.
  3. If there isn’t any adult accompanying you, keep phone numbers of some who can help you in case of any emergency.
  4. Carry a mobile phone with you. If you don’t have a mobile phone, carry some coins to make emergency phone calls.
  5. You should also attach your name and address in your costume.
  6. Don’t eat the treats before you bring those back home and have those inspected by your parents.
  7. Your costume swords and knives should be flexible so that those do not hurt.


Halloween Safety Guidelines for Parents and Adults

  1. Keep a tab on the outing of your children, especially if they are under 12.
  2. Make sure that your children come back home within a specific time.
  3. Clean your porches, sidewalks and lawns for the trick-or-treaters. Place Jack-o-Lantern away from the doorways and landings.
  4. Inspect the food before your children eat it.
  5. Keep a tab on the children while crossing streets.
  6. Make sure that the pedestrian trick-or-treaters are safe.
  7. Drive slowly.
  8. Make sure that children get out of the car on the curb side. Getting out of the car on the traffic side is strictly restricted.
