Christmas Story History

Christmas story history begins with the birth of Lord Jesus, hailed as a messiah of humankind. He was born in a in a barn in Bethlehem on the 25th day of what is the beginning of modern calendar. The Holy Virgin, Mary was promised in marriage to Joseph. He was a
carpenter but legend says he was descended from King David. Gabriel, the angel, gave Mary the divine news that God has chosen her to bear Jesus Christ, Son of God. King Herod who was on throne at that time was a tyrant and gave orders to kill all children under two years of age to be killed. Because of this Joseph and Mary left their home and traveled to Bethlehem for safety.

Christmas story history further tells us that a huge star appeared on the sky when the Lord was born. Three wise men took particular interest in the star and followed it as they knew it signified something momentous. The wise men were Melchior, King of Arabia, Caspar, King of Tarsus and Belthazar, King of Ethiopia. They traveled for days on back of camels over plains, deserts and mountains following the direction of the bright star. When they found infant Jesus in the manger they bowed down and offered him gold, myrrh and frankincense. They went back secure in the knowledge that a saviour has come to aid of humankind and the reign of peace and goodwill will begin.

Christmas story history has many legends and anecdotes. The celebration of the birthday of Christ is a much later phenomenon. Today the world is unthinkable without the message of the Lord or the celebration of his birthday. Celebrate the Christmas story with Christmas Carnivals.
