The Christmas Elf History has its roots in the German folklore. According to some legend the elves played pranks on people by inflicting them with diseases and scared people in their dreams. In fact the German word ‘Elf Pressure’ means nightmare. The story about these elves took some time to spread over Europe. The people of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland attach the trait of mischievous to the Elves and believe that a bowl of porridge would prevent the elves from playing tricks on the people. The inhabitants of Europe are of the opinion that the Elves have a white beard and that their attire is red in color.
In Iceland the Elves are known by the name of Yule lads and the people of Iceland have taken into account the fact that each day starting from 12th December makes a visit each day until the arrival of 25th December. The citizens of the United Kingdom believe that these Elves help Santa Claus to make gifts for Children. Christmas carnivals give information on the Christmas Elf History.
