The custom that is prevalent in Germany till today is that the Christmas tree can be seen by only those people who assemble before the Christmas meal, but the children are forbidden to see the Christmas tree even before the Christmas meal. Parents send their children to any other place or engage the children in some work and in the meantime embellished the tree in every way possible with candles stars and various other decorative items. After the completion of the decoration, the parents place gifts under the various places of the Christmas tree. The children are brought near the Christmas tree only when the parents think that the right time has arrived. The children sing carols while they open the gifts given to them by their friends, family and relatives.
In other parts of the world, it is the children who decorate the Christmas tree according to their own will. Christmas tree’s are available in the market in all shapes and sizes. For children especially Christmas tree’s are made in a much smaller size than its usual size so that the height of the tree does not cause any hindrance for the children while they decorate it.
