Various directors have adapted the famous novel of Dickens in their own ways and carved out marvelous pieces of plays out of it.A Christmas Carol play is about a miserly old man, Ebenezer Scrooge, who believes that Christmas is just an excuse for people to miss work. Buying gifts for Christmas is useless according to him. It has seven major characters including the three ghosts who visit Scrooge at night before Christmas. The three ghosts show Scrooge his mistake in valuing money over people. Scrooge realizes his fault and promises to change his ways. He wishes says “ Merry Christmas” to everyone in the end of the play.
Set in a completely ghostly ambience, this play depicts the transformation that its main character undergoes and thus, spread the message that Christmas is all about to spread love and peace all around.
Patrick Stewart received the Olivier award for “Best Entertainment” after the play was staged in the Old Vic Theatre of London. His brilliant solo performance also earned him The Drama Desk Award. A Christmas Carol Play is an all time hit and it is a great pleasure to watch it during the festive days of Christmas.
