story of an old shoemaker.The backdrop of this one act drama is set in the small Russian village in the 19th century. Papa Panov is shown working in his small store all alone. However, with the technique of flashback we come to know that the shoemaker had a very happy family in the past, but the untimely loss of the family has subsumed him in perpetual grief. He gets transformed as he comes in contact with a priest, who instructs him to read the Bible. Now we again come back to the present and find Papa feeling rather low again, when he decides to read the story of Christ's birth from the Bible. He falls asleep while reading and dreams that Christ is promising him to visit him the next day. The next day he offers a helping hand to a number of people in the village who are in despair and anxiously awaits Jesus' arrival, but feels sad again as Jesus never comes to visit him. But the truth is that Jesus has visited him, because by serving and helping the people in need, he has actually served Christ. This play is a musical and the chorus plays a major role in the play. This Christmas musical will effectively instill in the kids the values of unselfishness and the need to help the people in need. This is the most poignant way to serve the Lord. The Signs of Christmas is another contemporary Christmas musical, where the children use signs to narrate the Christmas story of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. This musical has some contemporary Christmas songs and some of the old Christmas carols have also received original and modern treatment.
