The Nightmare Before Christmas is the brainchild of Tim Burton, although the animated musical is directed by Henry Selick.
The protagonist of the movie is Jack Skellington, Pumpkin King of the Halloween Town. He gets very disgusted with the monotony of the Halloween celebrations every year. Incidentally, he happens to be in the Christmas Town and is readily impressed with the idea of Christmas. He decides that the residents of Halloween will celebrate Christmas this year instead of Halloween and makes the goblins and the bats prepare for the celebration. For this he kidnaps Santa and plans that he himself will deliver the gifts to the children, however, everything turns out in a total fiasco. The DVD of the movie is also a must buy item this Christmas because of the sprightly and cheerful music and the songs, the credit for which goes to Danny Elfman. There are eleven major songs in the movie along with the other theme songs and tunes.
