Memorial Day Weekend 2014

Monday May 26, 2014 is a day special to every American. A day when the entire nation observes ‘a moment of peace in remembrance of all those who died for the nation’

Among the special events in Boston the ones that deserve a special mention are:

Garden of Flags –

The local group plants 37,000 mini American Flags in front of the ‘Soldier’s Memorial’ at the Masachussets Military Heroes Garden;this is an annual event and attracts tourists from outside as well.

Memorial Service

The 68th Annual Memorial Day service to be held at the Veterans Memorial Park is likely to draw a huge crowd.

Memorial Day Concert

A special musical event will mark the Memorial Day weekend this year. The open air concert will take place on the Boston Water Front. The entry to this event is free.

Visit the Boston Massacre Site

The insignificant looking pavement level monument under the East Balcony of Old State House is the exact location where the first “act of rebellion’ took place.

Besides attending memorial functions, a lot of young people like to celebrate the Memorial Day Weekend by going on a holiday or doing fun things with the family. The idea is to celebrate the feeling of freedom and liberation.

A recently published news article indicates that more than 36 million American plan to travel during the period May 22nd to May 26th this year. The car rental rates for the weekend are scheduled to go up as well.
