Stockings are an integral part of Christmas celebration. On every Christmas Eve children hang Christmas stockings by the Chimney. It is believed that Santa Claus comes through the chimney and visits each house to fill those stockings with gifts and leave gifts under Christmas tree also.

The tradition of hanging Christmas Stockings dates back to fourth century. Legend has it that in that era there used to be a rich noble man who suddenly landed into hard times. His wife expired away and he had no money for marriage of his young daughter. Yet in all distress he was as kind as ever before.

One night during the Christmas season, the girl hung her stockings by the window to dry. Santa Claus knew their trouble and threw some gold into the girl’s stocking. The gold was enough for her marriage. Since then, children have been hanging stockings on Christmas Eve in hopes to find some treasure in them on Christmas morning.
