The Legend of Santa Claus

Santa Claus as we know him today first came up when the Dutch settlers came to Manhattan on Christmas day 1624. In Holland, Sinterklaas (Santa Claus) wore a red robe while riding a white horse, and carried a bag brimming with gifts to fill the children's stockings. Christmas Carnivals is here with The Legend of Santa Claus.
Dutch-American Saint Nick metamorphosed into his fully Americanized form in 1823 in the poem A Visit From Saint Nicholas also known as The Night Before Christmas (by Clement Clarke Moore). Moore included such details as the names of the 8 reindeer; Santa Claus's laughs, winks, and nods; and the method by which Saint Nicholas, referred to as an elf, turns back up the chimney. ("lays his finger aside of his nose" was drawn directly from Irving's 1809 description.)

St. Nicholas' evolution into today's happy, pseudo-earthly character is a wonderful example of the mix and match of countless practices around different corners of the world. He makes toys all year long with the aid and assistance of his elves. On Christmas eve he dresses in his famous suit and black boots, climbs into his sleigh pulled by eight reindeer to begin his gift giving trip of toys to the good children of the world. Today he embodies all the goodness, humility and innocence of childhood.

Prior to the 1800s the Santa as we know him today started to emerge. Writers and artists raved in depicting a lovable jolly fellow, small in size with a giving heart. On Christmas Eve he would ride in a magnificent sleigh pulled by eight reindeer over the treetops and roofs. He dropped gifts down the chimneys of good boys and girls.

The arrival of Santa on Christmas Eve is the most anticipated of all the Christmas events. Santa is recognized around the world as the brand ambassador love, charity, and gift giving through out the Christmas season. Jolly in the spirit of the season with Christmas Carnivals The Legend of Santa Claus.
