Santa Claus Reindeer

Santa Claus as we know him today first emerged when the Dutch settlers came to Manhattan one Christmas day 1624. In Holland, Sinterklaas (Santa Claus) wore a red robe while riding a white horse, and cared a bag of gifts to fill the children's stockings. Christmas Carnivals is here with Santa Claus Reindeer.
Newspapers gave out in 1925 that Santa Claus stayed at the Finnish Lapland since grazing reindeer would be myth at the North Pole. "Uncle Markus", Markus Rautio, who hosted "Children's hour" on Finnish public radio, revealed the secret for the first time in 1927: Santa Claus inhabits Lapland's Korvatunturi - "Ear Fell".

The fell, situated directly on Finland's eastern boundary, somewhat resembles a hare's ears - in fact Santa Claus's ears, with which he listens whether the world's children are being nice. Santa has the assistance of a busybody of elves, who have quite their own history in Scandinavian legend.

Down the centuries, customs from different parts of the Northern Hemisphere thus came together and created the world's Santa Claus - the ageless, timeless, deathless white-bearded man who lovingly hands out gifts on Christmas and always returns to Korvatunturi in Finnish Lapland.

The first written story about the legend of Santa Claus and his eight reindeer was "A Visit from St. Nicholas," by Clement C. Moore in 1823. The legend is derived from Russian stories of Father Frost arriving in villages in a sled drawn by the Arctic reindeer.

The legend also existed in Holland, where children believed St. Nicholas would ride the air, checking on the children who misbehaved. The ninth reindeer, Rudolph, did not come along until 1939, in a story by Robert L. May.

The arrival of Santa on Christmas Eve accompanied by the bevy of his reindeer has become the most anticipated event of the Christmas holiday season. Recognized around the world as symbolizing love, caring, and gift giving through out the Christmas season, they make for an awesome group. Jolly in the spirit of the season with Christmas Carnivals Santa Claus Reindeer.
