Easter Island Holidays

Easter Island is a land of mystery and legends; a land where adventure awaits you at every step you take. The giant Moai (stone statues) showing their back to the sea or the Rongorongo script which has not yet been deciphered, an isolated place with an ancient lost culture that can perhaps never be revived, natural beauty of the extinct volcanoes, lakes, caves, white sand beaches and places of historical and archaeological interests – definitely make Easter Island holidays something to desire for.

There are lots to see and do on an Easter Island holiday. You can visit the extinct craters and lava flows. Terevaka is the highest peak which is more than 600m above sea level. The two popular sand beaches of Easter Island are Anakena and Ovahe, where you can watch the under water world by snorkeling. Those who can swim and are interested in diving should check out the diving sites. Check out the exotic flora and fauna of Easter Island, most of which falls under the domain of Rapa Nui National Park. Rapa Nui is the local name for Easter Island. The local language spoken on the island is also called Rapa Nui but, if you know Spanish then it won't be a problem for you to communicate with the islanders.

Plan well in advance to have a trouble free Easter Island Holiday. Hanga Roa is the only town in Easter Island and you will have to book a hotel there. You will also find a number of restaurants in Hanga Roa. Don't forget to taste the wonderful traditional lobster delicacies. Book your Easter Island holiday package with a travel agent who will take care of everything from food and lodging to transportation and other activities like hiking and sightseeing. There is no public transport on the island. If you opt for hiking, mountain biking or horse riding you will be able to take a different route off the beaten track, which may be missed by escorted group expeditions. Hiring a car of your own can be a better idea if you are not so keen on walking so much. Some travel agents will not book your ticket on a plane for reaching Easter Island. In that case, you can book your flight from Santiago to Easter Island. It will take you four to five hours to reach Easter Island from Santiago.

Easter Island has a sub-tropical climate. So, before planning your holiday on Easter Island, check out the nature of the season in which you will be visiting the island. March to October is rainy season when you can expect heavy downpour. February is the best season to visit the Easter Islands, but do keep in mind that it is also the peak season, so rates will be higher. Keep navigating through the pages of Christmas Carnivals for more information on Easter Island.
