Holiday Morning Coffee Cake

A holiday morning is way too incomplete without coffee but the easiest way to pep up your holiday breakfast is by accompanying it with a holiday morning coffee cake. Ingredients: -

1 cup granulated sugar
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2-teaspoon salt
1-teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1-teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and coarsely chopped
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Procedure: -

The first step would be to preheat the oven to 350°F and coat an 8-inch square cake pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Beat the granulated sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and set aside. Cream the butter and egg until light. Add both the mixtures and batter until the dry ingredients are moistened. The mixture should ideally be a little rough in consistency. Stir in the apples and spread the batter into the cake pan. Combine the remaining ingredients and sprinkle evenly over the batter. Bake for a minimum of 50 to 55 minutes. Either keep the covers on and serve hot or allow it to cool down and serve with extra garnishing. This arrangement yields 16 squares.
