Christmas Bells are not mere inexpensive noisemakers that signal the coming of a new season. They have a longer lineage than we can ever think of. Primarily used as instruments for scaring off evil spirits during dark winter months when days were short and nights were long, they have had a seeming up gradation.

Christmas bells have become an integral part of holiday Christmas traditions. The origin of Christmas Bells is shrouded in mystery. Some are of the opinion that, Santa’s reindeers are adorned with bells or may be he harks his reindeers in the dark amidst thick fog and snow, by ringing his bell. But who can forget the popular one liner in the famous movie “It’s a beautiful Life” which went like this- Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings”. But the concept of Christmas Bells became all the more famous when Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem written during the American Civil War received enormous acclaim.
