By the side of the track is a little cottage with someone they know very well waving to them. She is Mrs Kyndley. Thomas always feels better whenever he sees her. After all Christmas just wouldn't be a Merry Christmas without her.
After Edward reminds the engines of last Christmas when a sick Mrs Kyndley used her dressing gown to save Thomas from a landslide, to thank her, Thomas suggests throwing a special Christmas party for her.
All the engines are now very excited, The Fat Controller agrees and just when they start making plans, he returns with bad news. On the day of the party, Mrs Kyndley is trapped in her house by snowdrifts, so Thomas, Toby and Terence go to save her.
Thomas and Toby start off on their journey to her house. Thomas charges at the snow with his snowplough, and Toby follows in the aftermath. Suddenly they hear a familiar chugging sound. Terence arrives with a snowplough to clear a path for the railway line.
Eventually Mrs Kyndley is free and as Percy takes the exhausted workmen home, Terence says goodbye to Mrs. Kyndley and promises to take care of her cottage.
Mrs Kyndley goes back to the yard with Thomas and Toby. But when they get there, the yard is dark. Thomas is extremely disappointed, as he thinks the Christmas party has been cancelled. But suddenly all the lights turn on. Mrs Kyndley is delighted and hence, Thomas Christmas Party becomes a successful idea.
