The whole of the story revolves around the popular "Little House" book series by Laura Ingalls-Wilder, which was eventually made into a movie and deals explicitly with the mode of lifestyle and the adventures, the challenges and the good times that the Ingalls family, a 5 member family faced while on the wild west. The movie is a vivid portrayal of the typical frontier life and its quint essential differences with the industrialized North. To lend a well knit and dramatic impact, the weave of the story line was made to include a host of other characters and their related personality traits and character shades added substantially to the plot.
Many are of the opinion that the TV series was a loose adaptation and only the key factors gained prominence while the subtleties were willfully ignored.
