Put your architectural and landscaping expertise to the test by building your own gingerbread house this December with Christmas Carnivals Christmas Gingerbread House. Shingle the roof with wheat squares, wafer cookies, etc. Use colored candies to make a cobbled alley. Use frosting to bond the candy into a trail that leads up to the house.

Make shutters with graham crackers. Sprinkle frayed coconut around the house to create snow. Mirrors and aluminum foil make admirable streams and skating ponds. Add chocolate licorice into fence. Stack large marshmallows to create snowmen. Top a candy cane with a gumdrop to make a street lamp. For the salt dough, mix water and salt and let it sit to allow some of the salt to dissolve.
Add the flour to the salt water, and mix all together until smooth and supple. Cover the dough with plastic wrap. Roll out cookies on a floured surface and cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Place them on a non-stick baking sheet and bake for an hour. After cooling, paint and decorate them as you like. Gingerbread house kits include pre-baked walls and roofs, icing that you just add water to, the candy and the pastry bag with a star tip. Prepare the gingerbread dough by mixing butter, brown sugar, white sugar, molasses, eggs, flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, all spice.
