Born on 7 August1942 in Hugo, Oklahoma, B.J. Thomas started his career as a country singer.
After staying with The Triumphs for a brief period, he embarked on his solo career with a hit cover of "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry' but it failed to draw crowds sufficiently and his success as a mainstream singe was considerably impeded. Nevertheless his "Hooked on a Feeling"and "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head did pretty well with the song "Raindrops" featuring as the first #1 hit of the 1970s. Hits followed with the release of "(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song", his second #1 hit. By 1984, his consecutive hits namely "Two Car Garage", "Whatever Happened to Old Fashioned Love" and "New Looks from an Old Lover" turned him into a household name.
But unfortunately his fame waned over the ages and 1990s and 2000s saw him turning into a star more inclined towards Christmas songs than mainstream music. The author of two books and a star in the movie"Jory", Thomas still rules the hearts of millions and you are bound to develop a liking for his songs if you lend him a patient hearing by listning to a few of his CDs. Some of his most sought after songs are When Christmas Comes This Year, Tennessee Christmas, Wake Up, It's Christmas Morning just to name a few.
