The word punch is derived from the Hindi word for five - an assortment of a cocktail of drinks, either soft or alcoholic, frequently with fruit or fruit extracts as its content.
About Chritmas Punch
- A punch recipe varies, but usually call for a base of either wine or fruit juices. Some cultures use the orange which, for some time, enjoyed the status of a novelty fruit.
- Kinderpunsch is an alcohol-free hot punch, served mainly in the Christmas markets in Germany. Given a choice, you're free to substitute grape juice for apple.
- The list of ingredients includes water, white sugar, ground cloves, cinnamon stick, apple juice and sliced lemon. In a saucepan, bring water, sugar, cloves and cinnamon to boil.
- Stir in juice and heat. Do not boil. Take spices out and pour over lemon slices in serving bowl. Serve warm. The Vodka Black Punch is made out of vodka, Grape Kool Aide, water, sugar and ginger ale.
- Make your Kool Aide using the water and sugar in a large punch bowl. After sugar is dissolved, add a block of ice or dry ice. Then, mix in the Vodka. Finally, when ready to serve add the Ginger Ale.
