Molasses Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup of shortening
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup of molasses
- 2 cups of flour
- 2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon of cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
Procedure:
- Cream shortening gradually adding sugar.
- Beat at medium speed until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and molasses and mix well.
- In a separate bowl combine dry ingredients and mix well.
- Add about 1/4 cup of dry mixture at a time to creamed mixture.
- Mix well each time before adding more dry ingredients.
- Chill for one hour until it becomes firm.
- Roll into 1 inch balls.
- Place on cookie sheet and bake at 375F degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Cool on wire racks.
- Makes 4 dozens
