The Christmas season will kick off on 22nd November, with the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival. Mickey Mouse the most popular cartoon Character will lead the illumination of more than one million lights from Oak Street to Wacker Drive. The event features some amazing live music and starts with a magnificent firework show over the Chicago River. The Mile’s million lights remain illuminated through out the holiday season.
Daley Plaza, a world famous place for its giant Picasso sculpture, and during the holiday season Picasso’s masterpiece is dwarfed by a mega-Christmas tree, made by combining dozens of smaller trees. This year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled for December 2nd, and will mark its 95th anniversary .

The Christmas Tree in Trafalgar Square is a gift given by Norway(City of Oslo) to the people of London for their assistance in helping overcome the Nazi occupation of Norway during the second World War. Every year since 1947, the tree is decorated with lights in Christmas. This year, the lighting ceremony which is one of the most prominent events in the Christmas season will be held on 3rd December 2009.
