Christmas In Texas

Christmas in Texas is a grand celebration time full of wonderful events, family fun, delicious foods and exquisite crafts. The Christmas traditions begin with putting up the Christmas tree on the first Monday after thanksgiving. On Christmas Eve the Christmas stories are read out. All the gifts are placed under the tree.
In the Christmas morning children discover the gifts and unwrap them in the presence of Santa.

People of Texas decorate their homes with holly, mistletoe and branches of trees in Christmas. The Christmas trees are decorated with electric lights, tinsel, baubles, and strings of popcorn and candy canes. City streets sparkle with colored lights, and the sound of bells and Christmas carols fill the air.

Various remarkable events make Christmas in Texas memorable. Some of them include:

Downtown Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony – The ceremony includes magnificent tree lighting along with a downtown stroll along part of Congress Avenue with galleries, stores, and restaurants offering live music, entertainment and free food.

Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Parade – This is a beautiful parade by the Chuy’s children including floats, marching bands, giant balloons, live music, and of course Santa Claus offering toys.

Victorian Christmas on 6th Street – This is a grand crafts fair displaying homemade arts and crafts. In addition to it carolers, highland dancers, gunfighters, jugglers perform to bring out an extra fun

Zilker Tree Lighting – The Zilker Park Tree Lighting is an annual event of Christmas in Texas. It marks the opening of the Trail of Lights Festival.

Trail of Lights – the Trail of Lights in Zilker Park consists of dozens of static and moving displays that has now grown to almost 300,000 lights.
