Christmas In South Dakota

Christmas in South Dakota provides a wide scope of entertainment and fun. The holiday time can be spent cuddling up in front of a glowing hearth lying on a cozy bed or skiing or skating on the outside frosty snow. The Mistletoe Ranch in the central black Hills of South Dakota turns into a festive world of lights and cheer
during the Christmas time. Christmas in South Dakota becomes a winter wonderland filled with marvelous decorations, trimmed evergreens and incredible collectibles including dolls, fragrant candles and exquisite ornaments.

Historic Fort Sisseton near Lake City, South Dakota celebrates a Frontier Christmas. Throughout the two-day festival, enactors dressed as soldiers, scouts and pioneers demonstrate Christmas traditions of yesteryear. They help visitors string popcorn and cranberries and make handcrafted tree ornaments. Horse drawn sleigh rides carry visitors across the parade ground. The frontier army lights a holiday tree with candles at the end of each day.

The town of Britton South Dakota also organizes holiday festivities during Christmas. Special activities such as a holiday Tour of Homes, a performance of Treasure Island by the Missoula Children’s Theatre and a Christmas Light Parade articulate the Christmas spirit in South Dakota.
