Christmas in Singapore is always an affair to remember. This far eastern country starts preparing for this important festival quite early in December. There is the annual Christmas parade and the church choirs gear up for their performances.
The schools have their own bands and the children start preparing

Orchard Street (focal point of shopping) is decorated with Christmas ornaments fairly well in advance (sometimes in early November). The place is chock-a-block with holiday shoppers and the sheer variety of the goods available is enough to take one's breath away.
The things, which are usually bought, include shoes, different types of garments (for men and women) and household accessories. The buying of household articles is mostly prevalent amongst the Eurasian community. Some of the families even paint their house and for everyone, Christmas is the time when there are family visits and exchange of gifts. There are also visits to the old age homes and orphanages as the less fortunate of the fellow human beings are hardly forgotten even in times of merriment.
Christmas in Singapore sees some gorgeous Christmas decorations. Each family decorates according to its taste and financial means. But Christmas decorations include a well-decorated Christmas tree with various lights and ornaments. The poinsettias, reindeers, Santa Claus and different wreaths are a common sight too. Lots of candles are used for décor and there will not be any Catholic home without Nativity.
Christmas in Singapore does not forget the grand Christmas feast. A traditional Christmas menu usually consists of turkey, honey-baked ham, roast beef, home made stewed pie "Curry Devil" (traditional Eurasian cuisine), Feng, pickled salad and salads.
