Christmas is celebrated worldwide to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ who came to this world to spread the message of God. Preparations for this festival start one month ahead of its time. People, especially in the West spend a large amount of money on the Christmas celebrations.

Though at the beginning this festival was only observed by the Christians, now everyone celebrates it with great enthusiasm. Christmas in New Hampshire is celebrated with much pomp and vigor.
The most important event of the festival of Christmas in New Hampshire is the Candlelight Stroll, which features the lighting of the Museum of Portsmouth, city in New Hampshire with the help of 700 luminaries. Along with the museum, the houses are also embellished with the holiday finery to reflect the historic period and this event is considered to be the most important event of Christmas festival.
During the festival of Christmas in New Hampshire the famous Nubble Light gets decorated with Lights. Every summer the lighthouse is adorned in the month of July for one night only. This is followed by a concert at Sohier Park and a visit by Santa, six-month early. Each December, the Nubble Lights again gets adorned with lights for the winter holiday celebration, which includes a parade, fair, caroling, church suppers and the return of Santa.
