The Christmas festival is a festival of the Christians. Earlier this festival was only celebrated by the Christians, but with time the Christmas festival gained popularity and now it is celebrated by all. Christmas in Maryland is celebrated with much pomp and vigour.

The events related to the festival of Christmas in Maryland are:
- Kris Kringle Procession (1ST December) - A parade that welcomes the beginning of the holiday season. Kris Kringle, Frosty, the Snow Queen and Rudolph are the main attractions of the parade. This parade winds its way through downtown Frederick and concludes at the Baker Park Bandshell with a closing ceremony and the Mayor's lighting of the city tree.
- Christmas in New Market (1st December to 3rd December)- It features traditional community celebration of 18th century heritage strolling caroler's, traditional tree lighting and a visit with Santa.
- Brunswick Community Church Tour (9th December)- People can delight themselves by making a trip to the 15 Churches decorated in seasonal theme in the greater Brunswick area with greeters, church histories, refreshments, and music to enhance the spirit of the season.
- Festival of Lights (December 15)- Carolers stroll throughout downtown Frederick to the City Hall Courtyard for an inspiration candlelight ceremony with a guest speaker, caroling and musical performances.
- Frederick Symphony Orchestra Concert Christmas Around (16th December)- The Frederick Symphony Orchestra will present its annual holiday concert. This year the Symphony will perform holiday favorites, along with the popular "Audience Christmas Carol Sing-Along
- Civil War Christmas Exhibition (1st December to 23rd December and 26th to 31st December)- This year the exhibits of this museum will focus on 19th century Christmas traditions and will cover: the celebration of Christmas both by the soldiers in the field and their families at home, the Christmas tree, stockings hung on the mantel, 19th century toys and ornaments, Christmas songs, and early images of Santa Claus.
