Christmas In Malta |
|
Christmas in Malta is full of joy and merriment. Christmas is a religious festival in this Catholic country. Malta celebrates the holiday season with gusto. Nativity scenes, displays of cribs, carol services and other events organized in each locality. St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta has a candlelit carol service for the special day.

Ornate parish churches across the Islands are just as overwhelming during Advent. Their interiors are decked out in papal crimson and altars are adorned with flowers during Christmas in Malta. All churches have a calendar of events ranging from the procession of Mary and Joseph figures on a donkey, to streets with groups of children carol singing. The people spend a lot of time visiting the innumerable “presepju” (crib). Flowers are used with abandon in the Christmas decorations and the decoration designs done with lights and flowers are much admired. Children get their Christmas presents from Santa Claus.
Christmas in Malta is full of happy activities. Schools in Malta hold a Christmas concert and most of the children take part in it. The concert is enjoyed by the children and the teachers alike. The annual pantomime held at Manoel Theatre, Valletta, is very popular with both the children and the adults. It is a happy mix of slap-stick good humor for children and spoof for adults. Restaurants, hotels, bars and clubs all have their own festivities and entertainment too. They are decorated with bright colors and lights are seen everywhere. Traditional Maltese Christmas menu has made way for the roast turkey, cakes and puddings. Log on to
