Illinois turns into a winder wonderland during the Christmas time. Every corner of the state sparkles with holiday activities, from light shows,parades to designer tree displays. The Holiday fun in the northern part of Illinois begins at Oregon’s Candlelight walk. This is a tree lighting ceremony in the presence of Santa.

Visitors enjoy live music, marvel at the nativity scene, warm up at the marshmallow roast and take a carriage ride around the luminary-lit town. The Festival of Lights Parade in Ottawa is another spectacular event on Christmas Eve. A dozen lighted floats amaze on-lookers as they pass by on their way to Washington Square.
In central Illinois Urbana provides a unique holiday activity at its Candles Over Prairie Grove Festival. Look towards the sky to see the display of holiday hot air balloons light up the evening. In Springfield, visitors celebrate Christmas by seeing replicas of the holiday decorations used on Abraham Lincoln’s home.
East Peoria’s Parade of Lights is spectacular display of more than one million dazzling lights along with a Christmas parade. A fireworks show sets the stage for holiday fun, with displays before and after the parade. Specially selected holiday music creates the perfect backdrop for the more than 40 stunning floats that light up the night.
The Morrison Christmas consists of a lighted parade with live themed window displays. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive on a lighted fire truck. Other activities include horse-drawn wagon rides. Several local churches hold church suppers.
