It is said that Back Peters bestow gifts and presents on the children who have been good and punish the naughtier ones by whisking them away to London. People from all age group especially the children eagerly wait for this annual festive ritual.
Every year, Museumplein is converted into a Christmas Square, an engaging market with great displays and gifts also comes up in the area. An ice rink is opened towards the evening for the revelers to unwind.
The markets, and buildings decorated with Christmas lights provide a wonderful sight. The shops at Jordaan with specialty boutiques, mini restaurants, galleries and second-hand bric-a-brac stores are other attractions, which should not be missed.
